Knock at the cabin

Starring: Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge

Running time: 100 min

You can stop the apocalypse, but you’d need to kill one of your loved ones. This is the dilemma faced by a family in M. Night Shyamalan’s new psychological thriller. What follows is a tense stand-off between the four protagonists, and the helpless family.

Former pro-wrestler, Dave Bautista, leads a formidable cast including Harry Potter alumn Rupert Grint on a nerve-jangling journey. His understated performance as Leonard should once and for all lay to rest any notions that he is only suited to brawny, action roles.

Based on Paul Tremblay’s novel The Cabin at the End of the World the movie is more about love and hope, and the fight between the worst, and the best of humanity than outright horror and gore. As such all killings happen off-screen. A worthy entry into M. Night Shyamalan’s portfolio. Worth a watch if psychological horror movies is to your taste.
